Iraq > Detroit

Freshman Republican Tim Walberg (who proudly represents my family's cottage in Hillsdale, Michigan- Slogan "It's the People") has made some interesting comments lately. According to Walberg, recently returning troops from Iraq have told him that

"80 to 85 percent, in a conservative fashion, of (Iraq) is reasonably under control, at least as well as Detroit"

Way to be true to your state, Timmy. 85 percent of Iraqis are better off than Detroiters, huh? Well, I think we are left with one recourse: troop surge. That's right, you heard it here first: a 15,000 troop surge into the heart of Detroit to secure the green zone, and quell sectarian violence (Cash Flow Posse vs. Young Boys, Inc). I believe we are in the last throes of the Detroit insurgency, and we are encouraged that the city has shown nascent signs of a democracy in 2005 (although they still elected Kwame, so all of as us at the State Department are still skeptical). But above all, we must not cut and run out of Detroit.
